For the second year running, a team from cardiac surgery has won joint 1st place at the Belfast Trust’s prestigious Chairman’s Awards. Led by Dennis Noel, Surgical Care Practitioner, the team won the prize for their groundbreaking work on Endoscopic Vein Harvest for coronary bypass operations. This minimally invasive procedure allows harvesting of a vein to use for bypass using only tiny incisions whereas previously the incision ran the whole length of the patient’s leg. Not only does this reduce pain for the patient and allow earlier mobility, it reduces wound infections and also saves money for the NHS!
Well done Dennis and the team!
